Diving on the Discovery Palawan in the Philippines

This liveaboard started its journey in 1972 and earned many positive reviews from hundreds of tourists that experienced the high-quality service that this boat can provide. It has a length of 49.2m/161.4f with a cruising speed of 10 knots per hour. Timely renovation and regular maintenance are always on schedule to maintain the pristine condition of this boat.

Boat Interior

Discovery Palawan can accommodate a total of 32 guests on its 20 stylish cabins located at the lower and upper deck. Each cabin looks modern with air-conditioning, private bathroom with hot and cold showers, storage for clothing and big portholes. The spacious saloon has an audio and video entertainment system with a collection of movies suitable for children. There is a camera room with a table and a charging port for underwater cameras and equipment. The large sundeck has comfortable sun loungers perfect for sunbathing and ocean viewing.

Restaurant

Guests can choose to dine at the indoor and alfresco dining areas. The professional chef onboard serves delicious and healthy dishes from local and international cuisines along with complimentary drinks and snacks. Hot and cold drinks are available all day at the fully-stocked bar. Vegetarian and vegan options are available at the buffet area, and a variety of meals varies every day to suit everyone’s appetite. We recommend guests to add their specific dietary requirements on the booking form to serve them better on board. We only cater requests for food allergies and religious beliefs. Alcoholic beverages are available with additional purchases.

Boat Safety

We prioritize safety and smooth sailing, and we ensure that this boat follows the Boat Safety checklist to ensure that this liveaboard is ready for sailing. It has complete navigation and boat safety equipment including life vests placed on every level of this boat, life rafts, fire extinguishers, oxygen, satellite phones, and first aid kits. The crew team is well trained to manage any situation that might occur on board, and they are also trained to facilitate first aid.

Dive Deck

The large dive deck has complete equipment for dive exploration and storage for each gear. The experienced dive guides speak English to assists guests better. Snorkeling is available for non-divers to enjoy the underwater paradise. Nitrox is available for those with certification and a dive logbook. Rental dive equipment and watersports gear can be reserved upon booking. There are tenders for diving to visit the exact location of every dive spots.

Itinerary

The friendly crew onboard welcomes guests with refreshments and snacks upon boarding. A short briefing and introduction are given to provide guests with safety guidelines and the itinerary plan. Visit the Apo Reef Natural Park which is the second biggest contiguous reef in the world that has two Attols with internal lagoons. Caron is known for its Japanese shipwrecks from World War II. Tubbataha is the Crown Jewel of the Philippines, and it is the only Asian UNESCO world heritage site. Choose from six to seven days of accommodation to thoroughly enjoy the cruise. The best time to visit the Philippines is during the dry season between November and April.
