Construction and Design

PORTAL Collapsible Beach Wagon is one of the most compact models you’ll find out there, and you can have it in Black or Blue.

There’s no shortage of joints to ensure that you save lots of space when you carry this PORTAL beach wagon. It’s better than the ENKEEO. Although the latter is foldable, it doesn’t collapse as compactly.

PORTAL vs. ENKEEO

PORTAL beach wagon requires very little space in your car.

When it comes to the basket material, this beach wagon from PORTAL has 600D Oxford fabric. Although it’s heavy compared to nylon and other alternatives, you can expect that it can handle a lot of abuse. It’s super durable, flexible, breathable, and has high abrasion resistance. You’ll find the same basket material in MacSports Double, YSC Garden Wagon, and MacSports Heavy Duty.

The steel frame has solid construction as well. Joints have correct and clean welding. Have the peace of mind that it won’t break once you load your things. However, you might notice some beach wagons like Sekey Classic and WHITSUNDAY Collapsible with a protective sleeve on top of the mid-joint. It keeps out any accidental scratches you might catch while using the product.

Some models have a sleeve protecting the joint.

But since the PORTAL Beach Utility Wagon has rounded edges, the sleeve might not be necessary.

It can carry anything up to 225 pounds heavy with its solid, lattice-style build. Tough enough to handle even an adult human! Sneak in your beach chair, beach umbrella or beach canopy, yoga mat, snacks, and cooler for some drinks, and pull your PORTAL beach wagon. There’s no need to go back and forth trying to get everything you need to and from your car.

Features

This PORTAL beach cart comes with features that make your life easier. Whether you need it for backyard work, a trip to the beach, or for daily errands like groceries, owning one will lift the heavy load for you, literally and metaphorically.

Handle

It comes with a 2-level telescopic handle: the default when folded, one at 26″ long and the second at 32.5″. It’s easy to adjust and can move up and down up to 90 degrees which helps in maneuvering.

You can adjust the angle of the handle to adapt to your needs.

The design of the handle itself is pretty simple yet offers an excellent and stable grip. You’ll also find varieties of handles- T like in Veer Cruiser, double-pole in MacSports, and so much more. But to be honest, we prefer the straightforward approach of the PORTAL Collapsible Beach Wagon. But for heavy hauling, opt for a double-pole or the classic cart handle.

Beach wagon handles come in different designs.

Wheels

PORTAL Collapsible Beach Wagon has typical treaded wheels. We appreciate that the front pair has 360 degrees of rotation, but that they’re not connected

portal collabsible wheels close up
Push or pull your beach wagon on concrete or damp sand with ease with the wide treaded wheels.

Another thing we noticed, by comparison, is how the wheels of this PORTAL beach wagon perform on dry sand. It’s better than the Sekey, which we like for other reasons. It is a common dilemma for almost any model, and you’ll need a bit of extra oomph to make it go.

Once you’re hauling 50 pounds or more over the sand, it’s going to require some effort. We measured the resistance to an equivalent of lifting 28 pounds when pulling the PORTAL with a 50 lb load. Better than most, actually.

At more than 100 pounds of cargo, it starts to really cause you to break a sweat. That’s quite normal with any cart.

On the other hand, transitioning from hard to soft surfaces (or vice versa) is easy. Most of the time, you won’t have long to go on the sand anyway.

Pockets

PORTAL Collapsible Beach Wagon comes with a couple of mesh pockets at the back. It is a plus, so there’s no need to mix your water bottles with everything else.

portal collapsible beach wagon pockets
There are two partial mesh bottle holsters for your drinks.

It’s not packed with organizational features, but these pockets keeping your beverages away from other items is a helpful add-on. If you want a well-organized beach wagon, you can opt for Ozark Trail Wagon instead, though that one doesn’t pull as easily over sand.

PORTAL Collapsible doesn’t have a canopy. If you’re rolling with this beach wagon, your items do not have protection from direct sunlight or rain. If that’s a feature you need or find interesting, some of the best beach wagons with canopy are Creative Outdoor, Utility Pull Wagon, and Radio Flyer 3-in-1.

Overall, this beach wagon from PORTAL is not the top pick for features, but it’s got all the basics you need. You need to accept a few compromises, but they’re not deal-breakers. It functions as required and is one of the most reliable models we tested.

Ease of Use

PORTAL Collapsible Beach Wagon is super easy to set up and use. It has the same mechanics you’ll find in most of its kind. Just remove the cover, give it a little push at the handle inside to expand, and place the cover as the basket’s base padding. Once you’re done and need to fold it again, remove the pad from the basket, pull the handle in the middle to compress it down, and put back the cover.

We’ll consider that a walk in the park compared to Gorilla Carts GORMP-12, where you need to set it up from scratch.

Is it for you?

Among the units we tested, PORTAL Collapsible Beach Wagon came out as one of the two best products. It’s an option if you’re a beach bum who needs to carry loads of stuff for a fun-filled day under the sun.

It can also work as your helper for backyard duties and regular trips to the grocery. This beach wagon is a durable option for anyone moving into a new home. Whatever task requires you to take rounds hauling items, you’ll find PORTAL Collapsible Beach Wagon a valuable assistant.

If you’re looking for a building/construction teammate, this isn’t cut for the work. We suggest that you check Gorilla Carts GORMP-12 instead. It’s pure metal, meaning you can rely on its solidity.

This PORTAL beach wagon is a mid-range product. It’s a steal for anyone willing to invest more for a durable and reliable beach wagon. But if you’re short on budget, see RIO Beach Go for a super affordable unit.

Conclusion

PORTAL Collapsible Beach Wagon is a reasonably-priced product at around $130. The overall build is not the toughest, but it’s relatively solid to carry heavyweight at 225 lbs. and endure lots of beating. It will last more than just a handful of visits to the beach.

Its telescopic handle comes in two levels and has a good grip. This beach wagon also has front wheels with 360-degree rotation. It makes it super maneuverable- even kids can easily steer it.

We deem it as one of the most compact and easiest to use. PORTAL Collapsible Beach Wagon is a robust and straightforward model. The simplicity and dependable functionality are worth every penny.

Buy this beach wagon if:

  • You want a reliable but straightforward beach wagon
  • You’re looking for a unit worth the price
  • Value time- and space-saving

Yes. But not all.
