Most Portable Canopy

NESO is one of the well-known brands when it comes down to buying a beach canopy. Priced in the mid-range for canopies, this one is designed for stability in wind and easy set up and transportation.

It weighs only 6.5 pounds, making it easy to roll up and throw over your shoulder.

UPF50+ protection, as well as water resistance, are 100% certain factors. Built from nylon and lycra, the NESO Grande makes sure it will last you longer than the average beach canopy.

Good coverage without creating claustrophobic vibes best sums up the experience with this beach canopy. That gives it application value for camping when it’s really warm out too.

Refreshingly Protect Yourself

This Beach Canopy is a welcome bit of kit that protects you the way a canopy should. It does it in a way that doesn’t make you curse the equipment both while getting to the beach and when setting it up. The SPF50+ is what you want and the open concept allows for wind to cool you down while you shelter in shade from the sun’s heat.

It seemed to survive well as a 2-pole beach canopy and even better as a 4-pole. Though maybe limited to beach use, it performs well for a lightweight model.

This NESO Tent is robust and reliable enough to make your investment worthwhile.

Construction and Design

NESO’s very portable sunshade offers one of the most refreshing variations and has solid colors and summer vibes prints. You can have it in Teal, Aqua Fronds, Army Green, Coastal Birds, Flamingos, Coral, Green Fronds, Periwinkle Blue, Rainbow, and Tropical Floral, to name a few.

This beach canopy from NESO comes as a package with a stowaway bag, the shelter itself, and a couple of aluminum poles. It was a bit of a surprise that it didn’t include a shovel to make it easier to fill up the sandbags. You’ll have to bring your own or buy one if you don’t have one. There are no pegs, so you can’t anchor it down on the solid ground. If you’re interested in having those in your purchase, check out Sun Ninja Beach Canopy and Red Suricata.

Material-wise, the canopy fabric is a blend of nylon and lycra. It’s lightweight, stretchy, easy to clean, durable, shrink- and water-resistant. NESO Portable Sunshade Canopy might not be as heavy-duty as BaiYouDa Beach Canopy’s high-density silver-coated tarp, but it’s a trade we’re willing to take for portability. It’s the same reason why we root for the classic NESO Tents, Otentik Beach Sunshade, and ZiggyShade Family.

Don’t forget extra sun protection! This beach canopy from NESO comes with SPF50+. It shields you from 98% harmful rays, so you don’t end up with a sunburn or skin cancer. It’s a pride of the company since the founder himself survived the early onset of this trouble.

At the corners, there are metal O-rings as reinforcement. It shoulders the tension, so you don’t have to worry about ripping when using your beach canopy

The O-rings at corners keep away tearing.

Now, the fabric has dual cords connecting it to each sandbag. It is typical for these beach canopies. They do get the job done pretty well. The sandbags themselves are regular with drawcord closure.

NESO Grande comes with a couple of rust-free aluminum poles, and there is nothing extravagant about them. They are almost the same build as most of its type. There’s a bungee cord inside for easy extension with a round tip for the fabric. But what we noticed is a little design tick at the base- a flat anchor. It provides better stability for the poles of your beach canopy, especially against strong winds. This type of minor feature makes the difference.

Neso Tents Beach Flat Base
The flat base provides better stability for NESO Portable Sunshade Canopy.

If you want a more solid pole, Red Suricata took it to another level with matching screw anchors.

Overall, NESO’s Portable Sunshade Canopy provides robust enough construction to meet your needs. It’s not the most solid build, but it found the balance between a lightweight and a quality build.

Wind Resistance

Though summertime is likely why you need a beach canopy, harsh winds can still visit you. We weren’t expecting NESO Tents Grande to hold up well against blasts for a two-pole setup. But it did!

Combined with proper setup, its quality survived through gusts zooming 20mph.

Remember, with these models of beach canopies, tension is a vital factor. If you fill out the sandbags on a clear day, you’ll be good to go. But if there’s an extra challenge with the wind, overpacking and actually burying them is a must-do. Otherwise, they’ll slowly glide towards the canopy while it catches gusts like a sail and eventually falls over. Another trick is to tilt the poles against the wind direction.

Bury the sandbags for solid anchoring and stable tension.

We got an extra couple more poles for NESO Portable Sunshade Canopy. There was less chance that the wind would blow it away with all fours. Plus, the shade it covers is broader compared to a 2-pole setup. It can go head-on with Otentik Sunshade’s stability and is more stable than the pricier option Red Suricata Family.

Your Neso beach canopy will generally stand firm on a sunny day or windy gray. Just ensure that you have it installed the right way!

Portability

Whether you’re a backpacker, a weekend warrior, or a family holiday, mobility shouldn’t be a burden. NESO Tents Grande is one of the most portable beach canopies. Staying lightweight is the company’s priority!

At only 1.8 kg., no need to loathe looking for a spot while dragging an extra load. It’s a task we dreaded while testing beach canopies with solid frames like EzyFast weighing almost 9 kg.

Carry it from your car to the shore without additional weight in its stowaway bag. Not only that but there’s also an insulated pocket outside for your drink. That’s a nice little perk you don’t find in other models like Sun Ninja Beach Canopy and Artik Family Beach Canopy.

Ease of Use

It’s as easy as pie like Otentik Sunshade, Artik Family Beach Canopy, and Sun Ninja Beach Canopy. Although, since it doesn’t include a shovel, filling up the sandbags might take a little longer.

First, know where the wind is blowing from. Then, spread the canopy and load up the sandbags. Make sure you stretch each corner out to increase the tension in the fabric. Sneak in the poles and remember to have the opening against the wind direction. Depending on the weather, burying the sandbags might be needed to add more stability to your beach canopy.

Neso Tents Beach Features
NESO Portable Sunshade Canopy only takes a few minutes to assemble.

For us, it’s still quicker to set up compared to EzyFast, but not as instant as Sport-Brella. This beach canopy from NESO is worth the time for reliable sun protection.

What we’re not crazy about

Now, the NESO Tents Sunshade can’t please everyone. But some critical factors might make it a better version if only they were onboard. It includes the bungee rings to secure each pole at the corner, as in Sun Ninja and Red Suricata. Another compromise you need to take is when the sun and wind’s angles are not from the same direction. It is where walls and vents like in Sport-Brella would be handy.

But as a lightweight beach canopy, the trade for features is understandable. NESO Portable Sunshade Canopy is there for one reason. It’s to offer you shade by the shores without weighing you down. It might not be as versatile as Sun Ninja Beach Canopy with pegs for ground use, but it still does its purpose for the coast.

Summary

For around $100, Grande from NESO is a beach canopy with good construction. It provides protection both from the sun and strong winds. Although it’s not perfect and grandiose, its lightweightness is a perk worth the trade.

Easy to assemble with refreshing colors and prints to match your vibes. Highly portable with an insulated little pocket for your drink. It’s also cheaper compared to some beach canopies of the same type.

NESO Portable Sunshade Canopy offers a good bang for your buck. Cut out the make your beach time more fun, grab yours and get the best value worth its price.

Buy this beach canopy if:

  • You want a fairly-priced beach canopy
  • You’re looking for various designs to choose from
  • Need a beach canopy that can withstand strong winds
