Portable & Packable

This Neso Tent is a very portable beach canopy. Designed in sunny California, it offers a high-quality sun shelter that can easily fit in your suitcase. Weighing merely 4 pounds, The Neso Beach Tent never becomes a burden for busy travelers or families with several small children.

The beach tent is built from water-resistant fabric that has UPF 50+ protection. That means it not only provides shade against the sun but also blocks out 98% of the sun’s harsh rays. You can rest assured there is close to zero chance of you getting burned at any point during your stay on the shore.

It’s clear that the Neso Beach Tent is lightweight and provides excellent sun protection. We also set out to learn more about how well it stands up against the wind, what the setup process looks like, and if it’s really worth the price you pay.

A Beach Tent for Reliable Shade

We think every beachgoer can agree – one of the biggest hassles of going to the beach is lugging all your items across that long stretch of sand. And if you don’t have a beach wagon to toss everything into, you’re even more inconvenienced.

Luckily, the super lightweight Neso Beach Tent doesn’t contribute to that problem. At only 4 pounds, it weighs half as much as the average beach umbrella like the Sport-Brella Portable. It also folds into a small storage bag with a strap made for easy carrying.

What else does the Neso Beach Tent offer? Ample sun protection with UPF 50+, durable construction, and multiple design options to choose from.

As much as it has to offer, it unfortunately also lacks in some areas. Set up requires a bit of a learning curve and can be especially difficult in windy conditions. Once assembled, it takes up a lot of room. This can be a problem on a crowded beach that’s limited on space.

Considering the price point, these flaws can be a dealbreaker depending on your budget and beach expectations.

Read on to learn more about the Neso Tent’s qualities: both good and bad.

Materials: What To Expect

The Neso Tent is made of a stretchy, lightweight lycra/nylon blend fabric. The canopy is 7 x 7 feet, which is spacious enough for 2-4 people. Along with the tent, you’ll also receive the following with your purchase:

  • Carrying bag
  • 2 Rust-proof aluminum poles
  • 4 Anchor bags to fill with either sand or rocks

The carrying bag is a compact 19.5 inches. That’s small enough to fit inside a carry-on suitcase, which any traveler can appreciate. Although there have been complaints of the carrying bag ripping at the seams, it seems Neso Tent’s customer service department is prompt to respond and willing to send replacement bags to those who contact them.

Rust-proof aluminum poles mean you won’t have to worry about water exposure and damage. That’s definitely a good thing at the beach.

The tent is “anchored by nature”, meaning the 4 anchor bags are meant to be filled with sands or rocks. No staking required!

Standing Up Against Wind, Sun, and Water

So how well can a tent that’s “anchored by nature” actually stand up against the elements such as wind, sun, and water?

Here’s what we found based on user reviews and our own experience.

As long as the Neso Tent is set up correctly, it delivers its promises of standing up against strong winds and providing sun protection. It’s been reported to withstand up to 25 mph wind gusts and protect against the strongest of high noon sun rays.

With one of the highest possible UPF ratings, this tent really is your best bet for staying safe under the sun’s harmful rays. If you’re traveling with a baby or young children, this is the tent you’ll want to have to protect their sensitive skin while keeping them cool.

The tent is water-resistant, but not water-proof. It’ll be able to fend off a few raindrops but will not keep you dry in a downpour. You probably won’t have to deal with heavy rains on most beaches, but you should keep this in mind if you intend to take the Neso Tent on other outdoor trips.

If you’re in need of a completely water-proof shelter, we’d suggest you take a look at another one of our favorite choices, the BESROY Portable umbrella.

We found the stretchy lycra/nylon blend fabric on the Neso Tent canopy to be strong and durable. The corners are reinforced to prevent the poles from damaging the fabric. With proper use and care, the Neso Beach Tent should last you multiple seasons and beach trips.

Setting Up: Practice Makes Perfect

We mentioned that the wind resistance of the tent depends on if the tent is set up correctly. Here’s where some users run into problems.

Although the setup process is straightforward, it might take a few attempts to get it right. It really helps to read the instructions carefully and even watch a few tutorial videos beforehand.

For best results, follow the steps below:

  1. Lay your tent flat facing the wind.
  2. Completely fill the sandbags (we mean to the brim! The more sand/rocks you can fit, the more stabilized the tent will be).
  3. Pull the bags as far away from each other as possible, creating an “X” shape. Do this until the fabric can’t be stretched anymore.
  4. For extra stability, you can bury the sand bags.
  5. Extend the poles and prop the tent up. Now you’re ready to enjoy your time at the beach.

Taking the tent down is simple – just empty the sand bags, fold the two poles, fold down the canopy, and place everything back inside the carrying bag.

We know it’s not as instant as a pop-up canopy tent such as the ISILER Automatic beach tent, but once you overcome the learning curve, setting up the Neso Tent is quite easy and doable.

Designed For Easy & Low-Maintenance Travel

There’s no question about it: the Neso Tent’s shining feature is its portability. Even compared to other lightweight tent options like the OILEUS X-Large and WolfWise beach tents, the Neso Beach Tent is the top contender.

The compact carrying case makes for an easy and comfortable experience when you have to walk across a long stretch of sand. The mere 4 pounds won’t weigh you down and you won’t have a problem storing this tent in your car, suitcase, or home at the end of the day.

The ease of cleaning also makes this tent low-maintenance and simple to take care of. The water-resistant fabric makes it easy to wipe away any spills or liquids and sand can be brushed away or shaken off.

Style: Stand Out In a Crowd

The Neso Beach Tent comes in a large variety of bright colors and fun designs. Coupled with the sleek design of the tent, you’ll be sure to stand out in a sea of more traditional umbrellas and tents like the AmazonBasics Pop-Up Sun Shelter and the Blissun 7.2’ Portable umbrella.

The downside is the tent does take up quite a bit of room on the beach. If you’re visiting a crowded beach, it might be difficult to find a spot to set it up.

Is It Worth It?

The Neso Beach Tent isn’t cheap, but we think it’s worth the purchase if your highest priorities are portability and sun protection.

Exceptionally lightweight and portable, it’s a great option for people who are frequent travelers, spend a lot of time walking on the beach, or have a lot of other things to carry.

Anyone who’s visiting the beach with young children will find this tent’s UPF 50+ sun protection very useful.

Overall, the Neso Tent is a high-quality tent that will keep you sheltered from the sun all day long, won’t be a burden to travel with, and will be able to handle the wear and tear of many beach trips.

Really Love the Neso the first few outings. In less than two months the pole poked through the foam ball…Neso replaced it….two months later the grommet corner tore away from the material…my wife re-sewed it to the material . Two months later the pole ripped through the material. We have followed ALL proper procedures for cleaning and storage. Great design…inferior materials….I hate to do it but I give it a FAIL. I reached out to Neso….No Response .
